Issue No. 09/08 March 2, 2008
WELCOME
To all of those who are visiting with us today, we wish to extend a warm welcome to you.
SERMON
Brother Ng, Yeow Kong (a member of the Klang Church of Christ) is our guest speaker today. His sermon is entitled, “Carry Your Cross”, which is taken from Matt. 16: 24 - 25.Really the text is asking a very simple question. In all of life, what is the one thing you value most, the one thing you could not live without, the one thing you fear loosing more than anything else? What ever that is… that is your idol! When the text talks about denying yourself, it is talking about idolatry. For though it wears many faces its most visible and common face is SELF. The first thing Jesus calls us to do is to give up all the other gods (idols) and to fear, love and trust in the one true God above all things. It is not an easy thing and we will spend the rest of our life struggling to overcome countless different forms of idolatry. If we do not fear love and trust in God above all things, we will be lead into all sorts of other sin.

*** Hole in the Heart ***
A hole in the heart is where there is an opening in the wall (septum) between the chambers of your heart. It may be between the two top chambers (atria) or between the two bottom chambers (ventricles).
*** What causes a hole in the heart and who can get it? ***
A person with a hole in the heart is born with it – this is called a congenital condition. Most of the time it’s not known why the person has the hole in the heart. It happens when a baby’s heart does not develop normally in the womb. There is no specific cause for this condition, but some things increase your risk of being born with the problem. For instance if your mum had German measles or toxoplasmosis (an infection that is passed through contact with cat faeces) during pregnancy, or if she has diabetes, or if someone else in your family was born with a heart complaint.
