To Stave Off Conflict at Church …… develop these skills Source: Abilene Christian University Centre for Conflict resolution August 10, 2008
• Communication: Basic sharing of information that helps identify opportunities, challenges, strengths and weaknesses. Communication scholars say some forms of communication are ineffective or incomplete, but they agree that any kind of communication is better than none.
• Conversation: Enhanced communication; an environment where communication can be explored, massaged and experimented with. Conversation is where people seek to understand others, and where we try to help others understand us.
• Community: Regardless of the outcomes of the previous two elements, church leaders and members must remain committed to this concept, demonstrating willingness to follow Christ’s teachings on unity.
