DEAD OR ALIVE? Source: Leonard Hanold June 2, 2008
The Bible is a LIVING book, authored by the LIVING God, for the instruction and guidance of the LIVING church. The apostle Paul admonished Christians to present themselves as “LIVING sacrifices” (Romans 2:1,2) to the service of God. Many consider the Bible a dead book! Why? Because they evidently feel that it talks about or to someone else. The applications of truths–instructions and admonitions– are directed at another rather than applied personally. the obligation to put off worldliness ins disregarded on the grounds that we don’t want our friends to think that we are “goody-goody.” When one disregards the LIVING message from the LIVING book, so far as he is concerned, it is nothing more than a dead letter.
